Investigation of Teachers' Participation in Leisure Activities and Life Satisfaction in Terms of Demographic Variables

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the teachers' participation in leisure activities and lifesatisfaction in terms of demographic variables. The sample of the study consists of 336teachers working in primary schools in Yenimahalle, Ankara. In the research, “PersonalInformation Form”, “Form of Participation in Recreation Activities” and “Life SatisfactionScales” were used as data collection tools. Factor analysis, t test and Anova analysis wereused for the analysis of the data. As a result, it was found that life satisfaction differedsignificantly in terms of demographic variables such gender, marital status, number ofchildren, total income and job tenure. When the levels of participation in activities wereevaluated in terms of demographic variables; there was a statistically significant differencebetween gender and participation in cultural and other activities; age groups andparticipation in outdoor activities; educational background and participation in culturalactivities; marital status and participation in other activities; the number of children andparticipation in physical activities; total income and participation in hobbies weekly coursehours and participation in hobbies.
