The Effect of Visual and Auditory Arts Education Interaction on Student Teachers’ Creative Thinking Levels

Abstract
The purpose of the study is to investigate the effect of visual and auditory arts education interaction on the creative thinking levels of student teachers. Mixed method was used for research. In the quantitative stage, pretest-posttest control group random experimental design and in the qualitative stage, the phenomenogical design were used. Working groups consisted of students of Art Education and Music Education departments. Torrance Creative Thinking Test Form A was applied as pretest and Form B as posttest. During process, music education was given to the Art Education experimental group and visual art education was given to the Music Education experimental group. After, semi-structured interviews were made with the experimental groups. Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the pretest-posttest access difference of the experimental and control groups. Significant improvements were found in the creative thinking levels of experimental groups of both fields. Also the student teachers provided positive opinions about getting education in a different field of art.
Özet
Araştırmanın amacı, görsel ve işitsel sanatlar eğitimi etkileşiminin öğretmen adaylarının yaratıcı düşünme düzeylerine etkisini incelemektir. Araştırma, karma yöntemle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Nicel boyutta öntest-sontest kontrol gruplu seçkisiz deneysel desenden, nitel boyutta ise olgubilim deseninden yararlanılmıştır. Çalışma grubu Eğitim Fakültesi Resim-İş Eğitimi ve Müzik Eğitimi öğretmen adaylarından oluşmuştur. Torrance Yaratıcı Düşünce Testi A Formu öntest, B Formu sontest olarak uygulanmıştır. Deney sürecinde Resim-İş Eğitimi deney grubuna müzik eğitimi, Müzik Eğitimi deney grubuna görsel sanat eğitimi verilmiştir. Uygulamadan sonra deney grubu öğrencileriyle yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Deney ve kontrol gruplarının öntest-sontest erişi farkını karşılaştırmak için Mann-Whitney U testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel verileri içerik analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Resim-İş Eğitimi ve Müzik Eğitimi deney gruplarının yaratıcı düşünce düzeylerinde kontrol gruplarına göre önemli gelişmeler tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca öğretmen adayları farklı bir sanat alanında eğitim almaya yönelik olumlu görüşler sunmuşlardır.
