Abstract
The time we live in is marked by the frequent use of quotations surrounding our everyday life. Umberto Eco talks about an era where “iteration and repetition seem to dominate all the universe of the artistic creativity”; that is to say; the crucial role which plays the phenomena of borrowing, quotation, diversion or variations in all fields of the contemporary culture.’ Defined as one of the methods of the intertextual phenomena in the literary texts, the quotation also appears as a technical way to which several artist-painters have recourse to transmit their message, to create their own style which often stems from the work of the others. Thus we propose, in this work, to study in part the role of the quotation in the artistic field, and in particular, in the field of painting to reveal its own way of functioning beginning with some painter-types.
