Abstract

Romano-Ward long QT syndrome is characterized by polymorphic ventricular arry-thmias (torsade de pointes),syncope attacks, sud¬den cardiac death as well as long QT interval and T wave abnormalities in the ECG. Two types of di¬sease were identified. The first one is the Lange and Jervell-Nielsen syndrome which is autosomal dominant and accompanied with congenital deaf¬ness. The other is the Romano-Ward syndrome which is autosomal recessive without deafness. Long QT syndrome may be confused with epilepsy hence antiepileptic drugs administered to these patients. In this report we present a boy with long QT syndrome, who had been followed up with the diagnosis of epilepsy.

Hastalığın iki for¬mu bilinmektedir.
