The prevalence and risk factors of type II diabetes mellitus in Yemişli Village, Karataş district, Doğankent health, education and research area

Abstract
This study performed in Yemişli Village, Karataş District, Adana to determine the prevalence and risk factors of Type II diabetes Mellitus (NIDDM) comprised 268 (83.7%) natives among 320 people aged 15 years old and older. A total of 50 people had the diagnosis of DM based on history, fasting blood sugar (FBS), oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) among them 17 (34.0%), 33 (66.0%) were males and females, respectively. Doğankent Sağlık, Eğitim, Araştırma Bölgesi, Karataş ilçesi, Yemişli Köyü'nde Adana, Karataş İlçesi, Yemişli Köyü'nde Tip-II-DM (NIDDM) prevalansını ve risk faktörlerini saptamak amacıyla yapılan bu çalışmaya 15 yaş ve üzeri 320 kişiden köyde doğup büyüyen 268 (%83.7) kişi dahil edildi. Öykü, açlık kan şekeri (AKS), oral glukoz tolerans testi sonuçlarına göre, 17 (%34.0)'si erkek, 33 (%66.0)'ü kadın, toplam 50 kişi DM tanısı alarak bölgede NIDDM prevalansı %18.7 bulundu.
