Changing in Mardin vernacular architecture

Abstract

Mardin vernacular architecture exposes unique samples in the boundary of Turkey. The reason of this statementderives from the geographic location of Mardin and Mardin topographic structure. Dwellings were settled on thepiedmont, from the castle on the top to the highway, between east and west direction. Every single settlement hasshown different kind of sample due to their plots. In this city, designing a house is idiachronic and in the light ofthe user s needs and opportunities. Yards are settled when altitude is proper to design and entries are adjustedwhen topography is enable. These are the first rules of designing a house in the city of Mardin.There is not any empty plot to settle a new house in the current condition. Furthermore, it is not possible todemolish a house in all this settlement. Demolishing a house of this pattern effects to other neighbouring houses.In this case, designing this city has been completed centuries ago and this situation allows just a chang withinthe boundaries of the houses.

Özet

Mardin geleneksel mimarisi, Türkiye sınırları içerisinde, türüne az rastlanır örnekler sergilemektedir. Budurumun sebebi, hem Mardinin coğrafik konumudur, hem de Mardinin topografik yapısıdır. Bir dağın eteğine,tepedeki kaleden vadideki anayola kadar, doğu-batı sınırları arasında konuşlanmış olan konutlar dizisi, herparselde ayrı örneklemler sunmaktadır. Bu kentte konut üretimi, artzamanlı bir süreçte, ihtiyaç ve imkandahilinde eklemlenerek türemektedir. Konutlarda, alanın ve yönelmenin el verdiği noktada konutun avlusu,topografyanın da imkan verdiği noktada konutun girişinin belirlendiği bir tasarım süreci mevcuttur. Güncel halinde, kentte konut ekleyecek bir parsel bulunmadığı gibi, bir konutun yıkılması da söz konusudeğildir. Girift yapının içerisinden bir konutun çıkartılması, o konuta dayalı komşu konutlar ve ona yaslı üstkottaki yapılar etkilenecektir. Şu halde yüzyıl öncesinden tasarımı son noktasına ulaşmış olan bu kent, güncelkullanımda ancak konut içerisindeki değişimlere müsaade etmektedir.
