Abstract

Applying different forms of a single test on different times may cause at least differentdifficulty level problems. To compare the scores which are provided from different formsneed to be equated. The scope of this research study was to equate 2008 spring and fall ALESquantitative-1 scores with using linear and equipercentile equating methods and to suggest mostappropriate method. The findings showed that there was a linear relation between raw scoresand equated scores. A result of linear equating difficulty of tests were varying along the scorescale; a result of equipercentile equating fall test was more difficult than spring test at the lowscores and easier than spring at the top scores. At the end of the study, it is seen that the mostappropriate method for equating test scores was equipercentile equating.

Özet

Bir sınavın farklı tarihlerde farklı formlarının uygulanması, formların en azından güçlükdüzeyi bakımından birbirinden farklılık gösterebileceği sorununu ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Birsınavın farklı formlarından elde edilen puanları karşılaştırabilmek için puanların eşitlenmesigerekir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, 2008 ilkbahar ve sonbahar ALES sayısal–1 testi puanlarınıdoğrusal ve eşit yüzdelikli eşitleme yöntemlerini kullanarak eşitlemek ve bu yöntemlerdenuygun olanını önermektir. Elde edilen bulgular, doğrusal ve eşit yüzdelikli eşitleme sonucuham puanlar ile eşitlenmiş puanlar arasında doğrusal bir ilişki olduğunu göstermiştir. Doğrusaleşitleme sonucu testlerin güçlük düzeyinin puan ölçeği boyunca farklılaştığı; eşit yüzdeliklieşitleme sonucu sonbahar testinin alt puanlarda ilkbahar testinden daha zor, üst puanlardaise daha kolay olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırmanın sonunda, testlerin eşitlenmesi için en uygunyöntemin eşit yüzdelikli eşitleme olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
