Abstract
Turkish Constitutional Court in 2007 and 2008 has become the focus of discus- sions. These discussions derived from the some verdicts of the Constitutional Court. These verdicts are decision on the need for a quorum of 367 deputies for the 11th Presidential Election and judicial review of constitutional amendments articles 10 and 42. Turkish Constitutional Court has been a constitutional institution that the law- yers and politicians have been discussing because of the some decisions during the period of both 1961 and 1982 Constitutions. Particularly, in Turkish law history, the efforts of the Constitutional Court to expand its powers and the de- cisions in parallel to this are experienced. This study aims to explain the purpose of the Turkish Constitutional Court deci- sions which lead the long-term discussions and be subjected to various claims. In this regard, two decisions mentioned above are examined and the opinions of lawyers and politicians are analyzed.
