Abstract
Musical sounds are composed of frequencies. In Western music an octave is divided into 12 equal parts. As an example, considering an octave, the number offrets on a guitar or the number of keys on a piano is 12. In contrast, a characteristic which is immediately recognized on a musical instrument used to perform Turkish music is that the number of sounds into which an octave is divided is considerably bigger. In this article, we consider how to find these sounds called commas and procession of maqams in terms of commas.
