Effect of the six thinking hats on the writing skills of sixth grade students in primary school

Abstract
In this paper, we have studied the effect of the six thinking hats on the writing skills of sixth grade students in primary school. For this purpose, we formed test and control groups of 30 students selected from Alparslan Primary School, Palandöken, Erzurum, in the second term of 2010-2011. These groups have been formed considering the socio-economic conditions and educational performance of the students.We have applied a pre-test and a post-test to test and control groups and the findings have been studied with regard to the "Assessment form for the writing skills". We have seen that the pre-tests of the two groups were similar. But as for the post-test results, students who used the six thinking hats were more successful than the students who composed a free writing.
Özet
Bu çalışmada altı şapkalı düşünme tekniğinin ilköğretim altıncı sınıf öğrencilerinin yazma becerilerini geliştirmesi üzerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Araştırmanın amacı dikkate alınarak 2010-2011 eğitim öğretim yılı II. Yarıyılında Erzurum ili Palandöken ilçesi Alparslan İlköğretim Okulundan seçilen 30 öğrenciden oluşan deney ve kontrol grupları oluşturulmuştur. Bu gruplar öğrencilerin sosyo-ekonomik durumları ve başarı durumları dikkate alınarak oluşturulmuştur. Deney ve kontrol gruplarında ön test ve son test uygulanmış ve veriler "Yazma becerileri değerlendirme formu" dikkate alınarak incelenmiştir. Her iki grubun da ön testlerinin benzer olduğu görülmüştür. Son test açısından kıyaslandığında ise altı şapkalı düşünme tekniğinin serbest yazma yöntemine göre daha başarılı olduğu görülmüştür.
