Özet

Bu araştırmada, Türkiyede basılmış okul öncesi dönem çocuklarına yönelik hazırlananresimli öykü kitaplarının coğrafi kavramları içerip içermediğini analiz etmek ve buna ekolarak, okul öncesi dönem öğretmenlerinin, çocuklara coğrafi kavramları öğretmederesimli öykü kitaplarını kullanma durumlarının incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmadaelde edilen bulgular sonucunda; örneklemde yer alan resimli öykü kitaplarında en fazlaişlenen kavramın yer olduğu, en az işlenen kavramın ise, harita olduğu saptanmıştır.Coğrafi kavramların okul öncesi dönem resimli öykü kitaplarındaki yeri ve önemi ve bukitapların n e derece etkin kullanıldığını belirlemek amacıyla 15 açık uçlu sorudan oluşangörüşme formu kullanılarak öğretmenlerle görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Bulgular sonucunda,genel olarak okul öncesi öğretmenlerinin coğrafi kavramları içeren resimli öykükitaplarını ç ocuklara coğrafya eğitimi vermek amacıyla kullandıkları anlaşılmıştır.

Abstract

This research study aims to analyze whether picture story books published forpreschoolers in Turkey include geographic concepts and to investigate preschool teachers'opinions about the importance of using picture story books and whether they use thesebooks to teach children geographic concepts. Results indicate that place is the mostmentioned concept among the picture story books in the sample, while map is the leastmentioned one. Teachers have been interviewed using a q uestionnaire including 15 open -ended questions to determine the place and importance of geographic concepts inpreschool picture story books and how efficient these books are being used. Findingssuggest that preschool teachers, in general, use picture sto ry books which includegeographic concepts to teach children geography and that they think geographic educationis essential for preschoolers.
