Abstract
The research was conducted to reveal the views of teachers regarding the necessity and adequacy of duty on guard teachers, and the most difficult and easiest duty places; the problems experienced in the school during this duty and the solutions to these problems. The study, which was designed in qualitative research approach, was carried out with 24 teachers in three state primary schools in Efeler district of Aydın province in the 2016-2017 academic year. As a result of the research, almost all the teachers regarded guard teacher on duty necessary for the safety of the child and the guard teachers application was seen to be insufficient by the teachers. It was concluded that the most difficult duty places were the schoolyard and the canteen; and the easiest duty places were the administrative floor and the schoolyard. It was determined that the most common problems in the duties were experienced in the schoolyards and the least problems were in the toilets. More than half of the teachers didn’t want duty of guard teacher to continue. It was suggested by the teachers that security guards, assistant teacher or other staff should be recruited and a school entrance gate control system should be set up to fulfill the duty of guard teacher.
