Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze and assess the suicide-driving impacts of the Blue Whale Challenge game which have repercussions in our country and around the world as it is held responsible from the suicide of approximately 200 children and adolescents and described as the most dangerous and deadly challenge game ever made- in the context of Edwin Shneidman’s ’’cubic model of suicide’’. In line with this purpose, fifty tasks that players should fulfill within fifty days during the ’’Blue Whale Challenge’’ game were examined in the context of three main psychological factors of Edwin Shneidman’s ‘’cubic model of suicide ’’, including ‘’pain’’, ’’press’’ and ’’perturbation’’, and the tasks which were found associated with the model were analyzed. The document analysis method, which is a qualitative research method, was employed to carry out the study. The proposed study is expected to make important contributions to the analysis of psychological strategies of similar games that may emerge in the future and accordingly to the personal and social awareness processes which will have an important role to protect children and adolescents from such kind of harmful games.
