Evaluatıon of tubıtak 4004 projects ın terms of envıronmental educatıon for sustaınable development

Tübitak 4004 projelerinin sürdürülebilir kalkınma için çevre eğitimi‟ kapsamında değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

After the Rio summit of the United Nations, it was stated that the term ―environmental education for sustainable development (EESD)‖ should be used instead of ―environmental education‖. On the conceptual basis of environmental education for sustainable development lies the ̳holisticperspective. It is expected that a person, who has holistic perspective, should both be responsible for his own behavior and play an active role in solving environmental problems. Some research studies on environmental education conducted in Turkey point to the necessity of environmental education for sustainable development. In this regard, the TUBiTAK 4004 Science-Society Projects are very important for environmental education for sustainable development. On the other hand the cost of these projects are very high and the publications related to the projects are very limited. The aim of this study is to evaluate the TUBITAK 4004 Science-Society Projects within environmental education for sustainable development.

Özet

Birleşmiş Milletler Rio Zirvesi nin sonrasında ̳çevre eğitimi yerine ̳sürdürülebilir kalkınma için çevre eğitimi (SKÇE) ifadesinin kullanılmasının daha doğru olacağı ifade edilmiştir. SKÇE nin düşünsel temelinde, ̳bütünsel' bakış açısı yer almaktadır. Bütünsel bakış açısına sahip bireyin, hem kendi davranışlarından sorumlu olması hem de çevresel konuların çözümünde aktif rol alması beklenmektedir. Türkiye de yapılmış olan bazı çevre eğitim araştırmaları, sürdürülebilir kalkınma için çevre eğitiminin gerekliliğini ifade etmektedir. Bu noktada 4004 kodlu TÜBiTAK Bilim-Toplum Projeleri, belirtilen SKÇE ye yönelik önemli bir çalışmadır. Diğer yandan proje maliyetlerinin oldukça yüksek olduğu ve projelere dair bilimsel yayınlar yapılmaya başlanmış olsa da bunun yetersiz olduğu görülmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 4004 kodlu TÜBiTAK Bilim Toplum Projeleri nin SKÇE kapsamında değerlendirilmesidir.
