EVALUATION OF THE MARITAL ADJUSTMENT OF MOTHERS WITH DISABLED CHILDREN IN THE LIGHT OF SOCIO-DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES

ENGELLİ ÇOCUĞU OLAN ANNELERİN EVLİLİK UYUMLARININ SOSYO-DEMOGRAFİK DEĞİŞKENLER AÇISINDAN İNCELENMESİ

Abstract

This study aims to examine the marital adjustment of mothers with disabled children in terms of socio-demographic variables. The research group of this study, in which the descriptive model was used, consists of 105 mothers who have a disabled child and voluntarily accepted to participate in the study. The Marriage Adjustment Scale and a personal information form developed by the researcher to determine some socio-demographic characteristics of mothers with disabled children were applied to the mothers in the study group. In the process of analyzing the data, independent groups t-test was used for paired comparisons, and One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used for multiple comparisons. As a result of the data analysis, it was found that there was a significant difference between the marital adjustment scores of the mothers with disabled children and the number of disabled children in the family, and there was no significant difference in terms of age, duration of the marriage, education level, number of children and the type of disability of the child.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, engelli çocuğu olan annelerin evlilik uyumlarının sosyo-demografik değişkenler açısından incelenmesidir. Betimsel yöntemle yapılmış ilişkisel tarama modelinin kullanıldığı bu çalışmanın araştırma grubu, engelli çocuğu olan ve araştırmaya katılmayı gönüllü olarak kabul eden 105 anneden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma grubunda yer alan annelere Evlilikte Uyum Ölçeği ve engelli çocuğu olan annelerin bazı sosyo-demografik özelliklerinin belirlenmesine yönelik araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulan kişisel bilgi formu uygulanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, ikili karşılaştırmalar için bağımsız gruplar için t testi, çoklu karşılaştırmalar için Tek Yönlü Varyans Analizi (ANOVA) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizi sonucunda, engelli çocuğu olan annelerin evlilik uyumu puanları ile ailedeki engelli çocuk sayısı değişkenine göre anlamlı bir farklılığın olduğu, yaş, evlilik süresi, öğrenim durumu, çocuk sayısı ve çocuğun engel türü değişkenleri açısından anlamlı bir farklılığın olmadığı bulunmuştur.
