CONFLICT BETWEEN TRADITION-MODERNISM IN RASİM ÖZDENÖREN’S STORIES

Abstract
This study was written in order to analyze the conflict between tradition and modernism in Rasim Özdenören’s story books. His stories have not been evaluated through this thematic perspective in the studies on the author’s works. Rasim Özdenören having written his first story in 1957 wrote 10 story books until 2009. The author going on writing stories for about a half century has been an important story writer in Turkish literature since 1970. The study consists of a general evaluation of concepts of tradition- modernism and the conflict between tradition and modernism in author’s stories. Rasim Özdenören having an important role in the last 50 years of Turkish art and literature with his stories and essay is one of our authors stating modernity and change without keeping away from tradition in his works characteristically. The author firstly handled lives of “individuals being estranged and especially being trapped in suburbs of modern cities and could not hold on to the life” but then the author examined the concepts of “westernization” and “the modern life” through a perspective including the family and the society in his stories.
Özet
Bu çalışma Rasim Özdenören’in hikâye kitaplarındaki gelenek-modernizm çatışmasını incelemek amacıyla kaleme alınmıştır. Yazarın eserleri ile ilgili bugüne kadar yapılan çalışmalarda, hikâyeleri bu tematik bakış açısı ile değerlendirilmemiştir. İlk hikâyesini 1957’de kaleme alan Rasim Özdenören, 2009’a kadar on hikâye kitabı yazmıştır. Yaklaşık yarım asırdır hikâye yazmaya devam eden yazar, 1970 sonrası Türk hikâyeciliğinin önemli isimlerindendir. Çalışmada, gelenek-modernizm kavramlarının genel değerlendirilmesi ve yazarın hikâyelerindeki gelenek modernizm çatışması yer almaktadır. Türk edebiyat ve sanatının son elli yılında öykü ve denemeleriyle mühim bir yeri olan Rasim Özdenören, eserlerinde geleneğe yaslanıp yeniliği ve değişimi özgün bir şekilde anlatan yazarlarımızdandır.
