A New Pest in Tomato Production:Lasioptera sp (Diptera:Cecidomyiidae)

Abstract

Tomato is one of the most important vegetable cropwhich is widely grown in the world. Economic yield loses due to several insect species has been reported on tomato production. In recent years, a new pest Lasiopterasp, which causes significant damage in tomato production area has emerged. The pest has first been reported in tomato production areas of Mersin district in 2012 after it has been reported in Greece. This pest belongs to the family Cecidomyiidae and is causing damage in the stems and on the fruits of tomato. The larva feedsinside of the stem,so this makes managementof the pest difficult. There are no adequate studies on integrated pest management on this pest. This report clearly showed that detailed studies on the biology and management of this pest in the tomato production should be done

Özet

Domates, dünyada yaygın olarak üretimi yapılan en önemli sebze türlerinden biridir. Domates üretiminde ekonomik olarak ürün kayıplarına neden olan birçok zararlıtürün olduğu bilinmektedir. Son yıllarda da yeni bir zararlıolarak ortaya çıkan Lasiopterasp, domates üretim alanlarında önemli zararlara sebep olmaktadır. Zararlı, Yunanistan'da görüldükten sonra Türkiye'dede ilk olarak 2012 yılındaMersin ili domates üretim alanlarında tespit edilmiştir. Cecidomyiidae familyasına ait olan zararlı, domates bitkisinin gövdesinde, bazen meyvede de zarar oluşturmaktadır. Larvalarının gövde içinde bulunmasınedeniyle zararlının mücadelesi zordur ve entegre mücadelesi ile ilgili yeterli çalışma da bulunmamaktadır. Bu çalışma, domates üretim alanlarında zararlının biyolojisi ve mücadelesi konusunda detaylıçalışmalara gerek duyulduğunu açıkça göstermektedir
