7. Sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler Dersi Öğrenci Çalışma Kitabının İşlevselliğine Yönelik Bir Değerlendirme

An Evaluation on Functionality of the Workbook for Social Studies for the 7th Graders

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı 7. sınıf öğrencilerinin sosyal bilgiler dersi öğrenci çalışma kitabına ilişkin algılarını incelemektir. Araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden, olgubilim deseni kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında Adıyaman'da 3 farklı ortaokulda 7. sınıfta öğrenim gören 93 öğrenci ile görüşme yapılmıştır. Çalışma grubunun belirlenmesinde kolay ulaşılabilir durum örneklemesi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler betimsel çözümleme tekniği ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada öğrencilerin büyük bir bölümünün (%75.24) 7. sınıf sosyal bilgiler dersi öğrenci çalışma kitabına karşı olumsuz bir bakış açısına sahip oldukları ortaya çıkmıştır. Öğrencilerin çalışma kitabındaki etkinlikleri sıkıcı buldukları, etkinlikleri yapmak istemedikleri tespit edilmiştir. Çalışma kitabındaki etkinliklerin öğretmenler tarafından öğrencilere çoğu zaman ödev olarak verildiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Öğretmenlerin çalışma kitapları ile ilgili sergiledikleri olumsuz tutum ve sözlerinin öğrencilerin bu önemli ders materyalini ciddiye almamalarına neden olduğu söylenebilir. Sınıf içinde ders konuları ile birlikte kullanılması gereken çalışma kitaplarının öğretmenler tarafından sözlü notu vermek için bir araç olarak kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir. Ders kitabı ile öğrenci çalışma kitaplarının birleştirilmesinin bu kitapların etkinliğini artıracağı söylenebilir

Özet

The aim of this study is to examine the 7th graders' perceptions over the workbook for social studies course. Of the qualitative research designs, the phenomenology design was used in the research. The data was collected through the semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher. Within the scope of the research, 93 7thgraders from 3 different schools in Adıyaman were interviewed. The working group of the research was determined through the easy accessible case sampling method. The collected data was analyzed through the descriptive analysis technique. In the research most of the students (75.24%) were found out to have negative perspective on the workbook for social studies course for the 7th grade. It was revealed that the students find activities in the workbook boring and do not want to do the activities. It was concluded that activities in the workbook were mostly assigned as homework for the students by their teachers. It can be said that teachers' negative attitudes and statements about workbooks contribute to students' not taking this important course material seriously. It was discovered that the workbooks which should be used with course subjects together in the classroom are used to give performance grades. It can be said that combination of course books and workbooks can increase effectiveness of these books
