Abstract
This study was designed so as to identify the bodily problems stemming from flute practices of 26 undergraduate students in their first to fourth years of study at Gazi Universities Department of Fine Arts’ Education, within Music Education Branch. Each student was given a survey during the 2005-2006 academic years. Consequently, it was discovered that almost all of the students were suffering from physical problems such as muscle-aches, tenseness, and fatigue. These problems were listed as the top three issues. Furthermore, pain in the head, neck, lips, and waist, in addition to the 5th finger of the right hand, were among the most frequently suffered health problems. It was further discovered that those problems had emerged both during and after the performances. It was also found that a failure to properly warm up and cool down the body, and also a failure in practicing relaxation techniques also to practice relaxation techniques was the main causal source of problems
