Development of Mathematical Connection Self-Efficacy Scale

Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a scale that measures the self-efficacy beliefs of mathematical connection of high school students. The draft form of the scale consisting of 36 items was applied to 378 high school students. In the analysis of the obtained data, item total correlation, explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analyzes were performed. As a result of the factor analysis, it was found that the scale had a 5 factor structure and the variance ratio explained by the whole scale was 52.34%. It was determined that the fit index values obtained as a result of the confirmatory factor analysis applied were in agreement between the model and the observed data. It has been found that the proposed model is good or acceptable level. The Cronbach alpha internal consistency reliability coefficient of the scale is 0.85. As a result of the statistical analysis, a 22 items Likert-type mathematical connection self-efficacy scale were developed. According to the findings of this study, it is understood that the mathematical connection self-efficacy scale can be used as a valid and reliable scale.

Bu çalışmanın amacı lise öğrencilerinin matematiksel ilişkilendirmeye ilişkin öz yeterlik inançlarını ölçen bir ölçme aracı geliştirmektir. 36 maddeden oluşan ölçeğin taslak formu 378 lise öğrencisine uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde madde toplam korelasyonu, açımlayıcı ve doğrulayıcı faktör analizi ve güvenirlik analizleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Faktör analizi sonucunda ölçeğin 5 faktörlü bir yapıda olduğu ve ölçeğin tümünün açıkladığı varyans oranının %52.34 olduğu elde edilmiştir. Doğrulayıcı faktör analizi sonucunda elde edilen uyum indeksi değerlerinin model ve gözlenen veri arasında uyum olduğu ve önerilen modelin iyi veya kabul edilebilir düzeyde uyum gösterdiği bulunmuştur. Ölçeğin Cronbach alfa iç tutarlılık güvenirlik katsayısı 0.85 olarak hesaplanmıştır. İstatistiksel analizler sonucunda Likert tipinde, toplam 22 maddelik matematiksel ilişkilendirme öz yeterlik ölçeği geliştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın bulgularına göre matematiksel ilişkilendirme öz yeterlik ölçeğinin geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olarak kullanılabileceği anlaşılmaktadır.
