The Examination of the Relationship between Perception of Democracy,Deontic Justice, and Perception of Social Values among Secondary School Students

Abstract
The main goal of this study; it is also possible to examine the relationship between perception of democracy, deontic justice and perception of social values in secondary school students. The sample of research was consisted of 182 female and 163 male students selected with convenience sampling from three junior high schools in İzmir. Deontic Justice Scale, Perception of Democracy Scale in Middle School, and Perception of Social Values Scale were used in study. When it was tested data searching independent samples t test, ANOVA, Pearson moments product correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were used. In results, significant differences were found in democracy perception, perception of social values and deontic justice levels according to school and age variables. According to gender variables, there was a significant difference in the perception of social values, but there was no difference in the perception of democracy and deontic justice. Pearson correlation analysis showed statistically significant positive correlations between democracy perception, deontic justice and social values perception. As the result of multiple regression analysis, perception of democracy and deontic justice were the important predictors for perception of social values.
Özet
Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinde deontik adalet, toplumsal değerler ve demokrasi algısı arasında ilişki olup olmadığını incelemektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu İzmir’in Buca İlçesi’nde bulunan üç ortaokuldan uygun örnekleme seçilmiş 182 kız ve 163 erkek öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada Deontik Adalet Ölçeği, Ortaokulda Demokrasi Algıları Ölçeği, Toplumsal Değerler Algı Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Veriler test edilirken t testi, ANOVA testi, Pearson momentler çarpımı korelasyon analizi ve çoklu doğrusal regresyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma bulgularında okul ve yaş değişkenine göre demokrasi algısı, toplumsal değerler algısı ve deontik adalet tutumlarında anlamlı şekilde farklılık bulunmuştur. Cinsiyet değişkene göre toplumsal değerler algısında anlamlı farklılık görülürken deontik adalet ve demokrasi algısında farklılık olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Pearson korelasyon analizi sonucunda demokrasi algısı, deontik adalet ve toplumsal değerler algısı arasında istatiksel olarak anlamlı ve pozitif yönde ilişkiler bulunmuştur. Çoklu regresyon analizi sonucunda demokrasi algısı ve deontik adalet anlayışının toplumsal değerler algısını yordamada önemli değişkenler olduğu görülmüştür.
