Abstract
Local history and oral history hold an important place in the history education. One of the basic issues in the field of oral history is family history. The academic field has been investigated on the families who have led the world and Turkish history. There are many studies on dynastic families in Turkish history. After from the nineteenth century, new history ideas put forward that history should be interested in not only kings, sultans, rich people but also the lives of ordinary people. People wondered history of states moreover they interested in the life of the workers, the peasants and the poor people in the past. Therefore, "the history from below" was called as ordinary peoplecentered history in the twenty and twenty- first century. Social history will gain more importance with oral and local history. It is obvious that family history will gain importance in the future. The aim of this study is to explore formation history class students’ opinion related to family history teaching. The study is based on qualitative methods. "What do you think about the place of the teaching family history in history education "? That question was asked to students and students were requested to write an essay about that question. These essays written by the students were evaluated based on content analysis. We tried to evaluate students’ opinion related to family history teaching. The study is designed on qualitative research basis and the data collected throughout the study was analyzed via content analysis technique in which the data needs to be conceptualized, arranged in a logical sense according to the determined concepts and then the themes. When the results of the study is evaluated, most of the students pointed out that family history is important because it creates identity and makes it easier to learn the general history.

Tarih eğitiminde yerel tarih ve sözlü tarih önemli yer tutmaktadır. Sözlü tarih alanında temel konulardan birisi de aile tarihidir. Akademik alanda dünya ve Türk tarihine yön vermiş aileler üzerine araştırmalar yapılmıştır. Türk tarihinde hanedan aileleri üzerine pek çok çalışma vardır. On dokuzuncu yüzyıldan sonra ise tarih biliminin konusunun kralların, padişahların, zengin insanların yanında sıradan insanın hayatını ele alması gerektiğine yönelik düşünceler ortaya konulmuştur. İnsanlar sadece devletlerin, komutanların, kralların, soyluların hayatları değil aynı zamanda işçilerin, köylülerin, yoksulların da geçmişini merak eder. Bu nedenle “aşağıdan tarih” diye nitelendirilen tarih sıradan insanı merkeze almaktadır. Yirmi ve yirmi birinci yüzyılda sözlü tarih ve yerel tarihle beraber sosyal tarihçilik de önemli bir ivme kazanmıştır. Aile tarihi araştırmalarının ileriki yıllarda daha fazla önem kazanacağı da düşünülmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı formasyon eğitimi alan tarih grubu öğrencilerinin aile tarihi öğretimi hakkındaki düşüncelerini açığa çıkarmaktır. Çalışma nitel yönteme dayanmaktadır. Formasyon tarih grubu öğrencilerine “Sizce aile tarihi öğretiminin tarih eğitimindeki yeri nedir”? sorusu sorularak bir kompozisyon yazmaları istenmiştir. Öğrencilerin yazdığı kompozisyonlar içerik analizine göre değerlendirilmiştir. Yapılan değerlendirmeler sonucunda tespit edilen kodlar ve temalarla öğrencilerin aile tarihine yükledikleri anlam ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçlarına bakıldığında öğrenciler en fazla kimlik oluşturduğu için ve genel tarihi öğrenmeyi kolaylaştırdığı için aile tarihinin önemli olduğunu ifade etmişlerdir.
