Evaluation of our patients with immune thrombocytopenic purpura in terms of clinical course and treatment response

Abstract

Objective: We aimed to investigate our patients who were followed between years 2007-2012 with immune thrombocytopenic purpura in terms of clinical course and treatment response. Methods: 103 patients were enrolled into study who were diagnosed as chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura between the years 2007-2012 in Department of Internal Medicine of Tepecik Training and Research Hospital. Patients were investigated retrospectively in terms of age, gender, treatment and response, clinical course. Results: Average age of the patients was 48.9 years and female / male ratio was 2.4. Sixty-five patients with skin lesions, 16 patients with mucosal bleeding, and two patients with brain hemorrhage were admitted. There were no signs of bleeding in 23 patients, and 9 patients were followed up without treatment. Steroid (n=95), and immunosuppressive therapies (n=10) were administered, and splenectomies were performed Conclusion: Diagnosis of ITP is established by the exclusion of other differential diagnoses. There are a variety of treatment options nowadays. We also shared data of our patients who were followed up by us in our center

Özet

Amaç: Kliniğimizde 2007-2012 yılları arasında izlenen immun trombositopenik purpura tanılı hastalarımızın klinik seyir ve tedavi yanıtı yönünden incelenmesini amaçladık Yöntemler: Çalışmaya Tepecik Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi İç Hastalıkları Kliniğinde 2007-2012 yılları arasında immun trombositopeni tanısı alan 103 hasta alındı. Hastalar yaş, cinsiyet, tedavi yanıtı, klinik seyri açısından retropektif incelendi. Bulgular: Olgularımızın yaş ortalaması 48,9, kadın/erkek oranı 2,4tü. Altmış beş olgu cilt bulguları, 16 olgu mukozal kanama, 2 olgu ise beyin kanaması ile başvurdu. Olguların 23ünde kanama bulgusu saptanmadı. Dokuz hasta tedavisiz takip edildi. Doksan dört hastaya steroid, 26 hastaya splenektomi, On hastaya immunsupresif tedavi uygulandı. Sonuç: ITP tanısı, diğer ayırıcı tanıların dışlanmasıyla koyulmaktadır. Tedavi olarak ise günümüzde çok çeşitli seçenekler bulunmaktadır. Biz de merkezimizde takip ettiğimiz hastalarımızın verilerini paylaştık.
