Alternative Ideas of Preschool Teacher Candidates to Increase Father Involvement

Baba Katılımını Arttırmak İçin Okul Öncesi Öğretmen Adaylarının Alternatif Fikirleri

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to unveil the alternative ideas of pre-school teacher candidates towards increasing father involvement in pre-school education. The research was carried out with qualitative research method. Focus group interview was conducted to collect the data, and semi-structured interview form was used. The data recorded in the focus group interview were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. The study group of the research consists of 30 undergraduate students studying in the early childhood education department of the education faculties of two universities in Istanbul. As a result of the research, the ideas received from pre-school teacher candidates were categorised under five sub-themes. These sub-themes formed for increasing father participation were as follows; "Press Media Organs", "Social Media", "Formal Education", "Activity Implementation" and "Policy Development". Based on the themes created, preschool teacher candidates think these alternative ideas that fathers will participate more actively in parental education.

Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı, okul öncesi öğretmen adaylarının eğitimde baba katılımını arttırmaya yönelik alternatif fikirlerini ortaya çıkarmaktır. Araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin toplanmasında odak grup görüşmesinden yararlanılmış olup, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Odak grup görüşmesinde kaydedilen veriler betimsel analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, İstanbul ilinde bulunan iki üniversitenin eğitim fakültesi okul öncesi öğretmenliği bölümünde okuyan 30 lisans öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma sonucunda, okul öncesi öğretmen adaylarından alınan fikirler beş temada toplanmıştır. Baba katılımının artmasına yönelik oluşan bu temalar; “Basın Yayın Organları”, “Sosyal Medya”, “Formal Eğitim”, “Etkinlik Uygulama” ve “Politika Geliştirme”dir. Oluşturulan temalarla babaların ebeveyn eğitimine daha aktif katılacağı lisans öğrencileri tarafından düşünülmektedir.
