al-Khalil as a Founder of Phonology

Abstract
Arabic letters are examined on the physiological perspective in this study regarding al-Khalil b. Ahmad, who is considered as the first to identify the place of articulation and characteristics of letterWhat is more, al-Khalil b. Ah-mad’s influence on subsequent scholars is investigated in this research. The introduction of al-Kitab al-'ayn written by al-Khalil b. Ahmad is considered as the first systematic study phonology.
Özet
Harflerin mahreç ve sıfatlarını ilk defa tespit eden el-Halîl b. Ahmed hakkındaki bu çalışmada, Arapça harfler fizyolojik açıdan ele alınarak tetkik edilmektedir. Ayrıca bu araştırmada el-Halîl b. Ahmed'in sonraki âlimlere tesiri de işlenmektedir. el-Halîl'in Kitabü'l-'ayn adlı günümüze ulaşan lügatinin mukaddimesi, ilk sistemli sesbilim çalışması kabul edilmesi açısından da önem arz etmektedir.
