Application of the Seven Principles for Good Practice at Sixth Grade Particulate Nature of Matter Unit

İyi Bir Eğitim Ortamı İçin Yedi İlkenin Altıncı Sınıf Maddenin Tanecikli Yapısı Ünitesinde Uygulanması

Abstract

This research aimed to apply seven principles for good practice with cooperative learning at the sixth-grade particulate nature of matter unit. A quasi-experimental method with pre-and posttest of quantitative approach was used in this research. The sample of this research consisted of a total of 56 sixth grade students from three classes of the centrum of Erzurum. The Scale of Seven Principles (SSP) and Semi-Structured Interviews (SSI) were used for collecting data. To check the validity of these tools, expert opinions were taken and necessary arrangements were made. The reliability coefficient Cronbach Alpha (α) for the SSP was .78. For analysis data, descriptive statistics; percentage, frequency, and predictive statistics; one-way ANOVA, covariance analyses ANCOVA, and the effect size (η2) of these tests were used. The ANOVA and ANCOVA analyses of the SSSP showed that seven principles for good practice were implemented as successfully in 6th grade the particulate nature of matter unit (p<.05). Also, the findings indicated significant differences in favor of the group of seven principles.

Özet

Bu araştırmada iyi bir eğitim ortamı için yedi ilkenin işbirlikli öğrenme ile birlikte 6. sınıf maddenin tanecikli yapısı ünitesinde uygulanması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma, ön test-son test uygulamalı kontrol gruplu yarı-deneysel desendedir. Araştırma Erzurum il merkezindeki bir ortaokulun 6. sınıfının üç şubesinde öğrenim gören 56 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Verilerin toplanmasında Yedi İlke Ölçeği (YİÖ) ve Yarı-Yapılandırılmış Mülakat Formu (YYMF) kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama araçlarının geçerliği için uzman görüşüne başvurulmuş ve gerekli düzenlemeler yapılmıştır. YİÖ’nün Cronbach Alfa güvenirlik katsayısı α=.78 olarak belirlenmiştir. Verilerin analizi için betimsel istatistikler; frekans, yüzde değerleri ve kestirimsel istatistikler; tek yönlü ANOVA, kovaryans analizi ANCOVA ve etki büyüklüğü η2 değerine bakılmıştır. YİÖ’den elde edilen verilere yapılan ANOVA ve ANCOVA analizlerine göre, yedi ilkenin 6. sınıf maddenin tanecikli yapısı ünitesinde başarı ile uygulandığı tespit edilmiştir (p<.05). Ayrıca öğrencilerin görüşlerinde yedi ilke grubu lehine anlamlı bir farklılık oluştuğu belirlenmiştir.
