Abstract

Bilim kuramsal temel ve sorgulamadan yoksun bir araştırma alanı olarak “Çeviribilim”de araştırma nesnesinin tanımı ve ortak kabule dönüştürülmesi yönündeki hala süregelen sorunlar ve çabalar ortada iken alanda yaygın ve çoğu durumda sorgusuzca kullanılan “Kaynak Metin” (KM) kavramı irdelenecektir. Bu minvalde alanda sıkça içine düşülen terim bazlı ve kavramsal çelişkiler ortaya konacak, söz konusu kavramın analizine takiben bu sorunların giderilebileceği yönünde bir tartışma çerçevesi çizilecektir.

Özet

Afield, which aims to clarify the theme / subject “translation” in general without any references to scientific-theoretical primary / basic demands and needs, should have even basic problems to define, defend and develop his own “disciplinary autonomy”. So it is not surprising that the so called “Translatology” (Translations-wissenschaft) has struggled for more than 30 years for the goal to declare the own disciplinary independence, but the –nowadays rather accepted – result is a great and frustrating fail, which is exposed and concentrated in several serious complains and nags, considering profound issues of the field, such as the question, what the object of this scientific research of the translation should be or not. Even this basic question has no answer yet, at least no answer, which is all around accepted as a “coordinating term”. In this context this article tries to demonstrate the main problem by reflecting the established manner of argumentation in the field of the translationoriented researches, concretely spoken: of the use of terminology. As a very important, probably basic example for this is the exclusively analysed term (one should rather say “expression”) “source text” (ST). The term is analysed to show how and in which different ways and manners this expression can appear in the world of the translation-oriented researches. As a result, this article offers a basic frame of discussion issues, which can help solving the problem of the terminology but also clarifying the main argumentation of any translation researches.
