CHALLENGES FACED BY INCLUSIVE STUDENTS DURING THEIR SCHOOL LIFE

Abstract

In our country, which is rapidly changing and developing, one of the primary areas where this transformation is reflected the most is the protection and enhancement of the rights of disabled persons within economic, social, political and cultural realms of life. The basis of the studies conducted in relation to the disabled, is formed by the prohibition of discrimination, equality of opportunities and basic human rights. Within this context, the rights granted with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights have finally started to be reciprocated in real life and in practice. Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states, “Everyone has the right to education” and thus has highlighted that all individuals should be provided with the education that would allow them to develop their own personalities. Therefore, legal, administrative and education related regulations have been established in order to ensure that the individuals, who are in need of special education, benefit from equal education and life opportunities as those individuals whose development progresses normally. Inclusive education practices entail the special education practices where the individuals who are in need of special education, continue their training within the public and private; preschools, elementary and secondary schools and informal education institutions together with their peers, who do not have any disabilities, by ensuring that supportive education services are provided. The objective of this study is to determine the problems and challenges faced by inclusive education students during their school life. The subtitles of the study are categorized in accordance with the challenges faced by these inclusive students at preschools, elementary and secondary schools. The significance of the study originates from the fact that there are only a limited number of studies conducted on inclusive students, which make up the subject of this study, within the literature and therefore this study fills the gap in relation to this underresearched area. The methodology of this study is literature review. At the same time, the data that has been obtained allowed the author to draw some conclusions and provide some suggestions

Hızla değişen ve gelişen ülkemizde, bu değişimin en çok hissedildiği alanların başında engelli kişilerin ekonomik, sosyal, siyasi ve kültürel yaşamdaki insan haklarının korunması ve geliştirilmesi gelmektedir. Engellilik alanında yapılan çalışmaların temelini ise ayrımcılığın önlenmesi, fırsat eşitliği ve temel insan hakları oluşturmaktadır. Bu kapsamda İnsan Hakları Evrensel Bildirgesi'nde belirlenen haklar gerçek yaşamda karşılığını bulmaya başlamıştır. İnsan Hakları Evrensel Bildirgesi'nin 26. Maddesinde "Herkesin eğitim hakkı vardır" ifadesiyle tüm bireylerin kendi kişiliğini geliştirme yönünde eğitim almaları gerektiği vurgulanmıştır. Böylece özel eğitime gereksinimi olan bireylerin, normal gelişim özelliği gösteren bireylerle eşit eğitim ve yaşam fırsatlarından yararlanmaları için yasal, idari ve eğitsel düzenlemeler oluşturulmuştur. Kaynaştırma yoluyla eğitim; özel eğitime ihtiyacı olan bireylerin eğitimlerini, destek eğitim hizmetleri de sağlanarak yetersizliği olmayan akranları ile birlikte resmî ve özel; okul öncesi, ilköğretim, orta öğretim ve yaygın eğitim kurumlarında sürdürmeleri esasına dayanan özel eğitim uygulamalarıdır. Bu çalışmanın amacı kaynaştırma öğrencilerinin okul hayatında yaşadıkları sorunları ve zorlukları tespit etmektir. Çalışmanın alt başlıklarını ise kaynaştırma öğrencilerinin okul öncesinde, ilkokulda, ortaokulda ve ortaöğretim seviyelerinde karşılaştıkları sorunlar belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın konusunu oluşturan kaynaştırma öğrencileri hakkında yeteri kadar çalışmanın literatürde bulunamamış olması ve yine bu çalışmanın literatürdeki bir boşluğu dolduracak olması, çalışmanın önemini oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma da yöntem olarak kaynak taraması yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Aynı zamanda elde edilen bulgular sayesinde bir takım sonuç ve önerilere gidilmiştir
