Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine student opinions on the use of travel books in the 4th grade Social Studies course in primary school. The study was conducted in a public primary school in Tepebaşı district of Eskişehir province in the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. Within the scope of the research in which the case study model was used in the framework of qualitative research approach, activities were prepared and implemented using Gülten Dayıoğlu's travel books. The teaching practice with travel books lasted four weeks. Participants were identified through convenience sampling. 22 students participated in the study. The data were collected with a semi-structured interview form and analyzed by content analysis. According to the results of the research, it is seen that more than half of the students have not read travel books before, almost one third of them are excited when they hear that they will be taught using travel books, more than one third of them increase their knowledge about countries thanks to travel books, more than half of them encounter interesting information in travel books, more than half of them like the life of the countries, almost one third of them are impressed by the symbols of the countries, more than half of them do not have problems in the use of travel books and the majority of them think about reading travel books in their future life.

Bu araştırmanın amacı, ilkokul 4.sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersinde gezi kitaplarının kullanımına yönelik öğrenci görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırma, 2022-2023 öğretim yılı bahar döneminde Eskişehir ili Tepebaşı ilçesinin bir devlet ilkokulunda yürütülmüştür. Nitel araştırma yaklaşımı çerçevesinde durum çalışması modelinin kullanıldığı araştırma kapsamında, Gülten Dayıoğlu’nun gezi kitapları kullanılarak etkinlikler hazırlanmış ve uygulanmıştır. Gezi kitaplarıyla yapılan öğretim uygulaması dört hafta sürmüştür. Kolay ulaşılabilir örneklem yoluyla katılımcılar belirlenmiştir. Araştırmaya 22 öğrenci katılmıştır. Veriler yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmış, içerik analizi ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, öğrencilerin yarısından fazlasının daha önce gezi kitabı okumadığı, üçte bire yakın kısmının gezi kitaplarıyla ders işleneceğini duyduğunda heyecanlandığı, üçte birinden fazlasının gezi kitapları sayesinde ülkelerle ilgili bilgisinin arttığı, yarısından fazlasının gezi kitaplarında ilginç bilgilerle karşılaştığı, yarısından fazlasının ülkelerin yaşamının hoşuna gittiği, üçte bire yakın kısmının ülkelerin simgelerinden etkilendiği, yarısından fazlasının gezi kitaplarının kullanımında sorun yaşamadığı ve büyük çoğunluğunun daha sonraki yaşamında gezi kitabı okumayı düşündüğü görülmektedir.
