Abstract

We aimed to share that giant molluscum cases can also be seen in non-immunosuppressive patients, can be confused with tumoral lesions such as keratoacanthoma, and can be diagnosed by physical examination. Molluscum contagiosum is a common viral infection that is a member of the poxvirus family. The lesions are typically white or tan, dome-shaped, and pearly-shaped. Lesions are usually in the form of papules 1-5 mm in diameter. Diffuse or larger lesions are observed in immunosuppressed or HIV-positive patients. Giant molluscum is a rare variant. Basal cell carcinoma can be confused with verruca vulgaris and keratoacanthoma because it shows a single large and nodular structure. In our two patients, we observed and we share that in giant molluscum cases, which we can easily diagnose with clinical physical examination, the patients are not immunosuppressive and have single and giant lesions similar to keratoacanthoma.
