Abstract

In this study, it is carried out the investigation of developing scale that it can be used to determine the problem solving skills perceptions of secondary students. 894 secondary students from nine different schools in Buca in İzmir were participated in the study and the data from 840 students were taken into account excluding the empty and inconsistent items of the participants. In the process of the development of the scale, expert opinions were taken for content validity, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were carried out for construct validity and then to determine reliability of the scale item total correlation of the items in the scale and besides cronbach alpha value of the scale were conducted. In the results of the analysis, it has determined that the scale has two factor structured, the first factor of the scale has accounted for % 30,29 and the second factor of the scale has accounted for % 9, 976 of the total variance. Besides, it has founded that the reliability of the scale is .88. The results obtained suggest that the scale possesses reliable-valid characteristics and could be used in further studies.
