Abstract

This study aimed to examine the structural relationships among the spiral of silence, psychological resilience, and job satisfaction and to test the mediating role of psychological resilience in the relationship between the spiral of silence and job satisfaction. The study employed a quantitative approach and a correlational research design. The sample consisted of 427 participants selected through convenience sampling. Data were collected using previously validated and reliable measurement instruments and analyzed with SPSS and AMOS. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed to validate the measurement model, structural equation modeling was used to test the hypothesized relationships, and a bootstrap-based mediation analysis was conducted to assess the indirect effect. The findings indicated that the spiral of silence had a significant and negative effect on psychological resilience (β = −.316, p < .001), psychological resilience had a significant and positive effect on job satisfaction (β = .415, p < .001), and the spiral of silence had a significant and negative direct effect on job satisfaction (β = −.296, p < .001). Bootstrap analysis further showed that psychological resilience partially mediated the relationship between the spiral of silence and job satisfaction, with a statistically significant indirect effect (β = −.131, 95% bootstrap CI [−.182, −.093]). The structural model demonstrated an acceptable fit to the data (χ²/df = 2.040, RMSEA = .049, CFI = .938, TLI = .929). The study contributes to the literature by integrating the spiral of silence, psychological resilience, and job satisfaction within a single structural model and by empirically demonstrating the mediating mechanism of psychological resilience through structural equation modeling. These findings suggest that strengthening employees’ psychological resilience may help mitigate the adverse effects of the spiral of silence on job satisfaction and may inform the development of organizational practices and interventions aimed at improving employee well-being and workplace outcomes.
