Abstract

Social media has become a routine for many people today. People share their daily experiences on social media platforms and follow others' posts. This constantly up-to-date structure of social media causes people to spend more time in these channels and to have the fear of missing out on developments over time. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between hedonic consumption and FoMO tendencies of Z generation consumers. For this purpose, face-to-face and online surveys were conducted with 398 people born in and after 2000. The obtained data were analyzed with SPSS 26.0 statistical package program. As a result of the research, it was determined that there is a positive relationship between FoMO and hedonic consumption, and FoMO has an effect on hedonic consumption. It was concluded that those who shop more frequently than Generation Z consumers have higher hedonic consumption tendencies than those who shop less frequently or when they need it. It is also an important finding that women approach consumption more hedonic than men.
