Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the effects of wage satisfaction levels and life satisfaction perceptions of emergency health workers on brain drain intention. The research is cross-sectional and was conducted with Balıkesir 112 emergency health services workers during April and May 2022. The population of the study consisted of 750 health professionals working in Balıkesir 112 emergency health services, and the sample consisted of 282 participants (37.6%). The sample of the study represents the universe with a 95% confidence level +/- 4.61% error margin, and the size of the sample is at a valid level. The scale, which is the data collection tool of the research, consists of four sections. The first section is the propositions for demographic variables, the second section is the wage satisfaction scale, the third section is the life satisfaction scale, and the fourth section is the attitude towards the brain drain. The data of the study were analyzed in SPSS 26.0 program and numbers, percentages, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis Tests and post-hoc Bonferroni correction were also applied in the analysis of the data. The relationship between variables was investigated through Spearman correlation coefficient analysis. As a result of the analysis, a moderate positive relationship (r=.577) between the wage satisfaction level and life satisfaction perceptions of emergency health workers and a weak negative relationship (-.378, -,253) between their attitudes towards brain drain and their wage satisfaction level and life satisfaction perceptions were found. In conclusion, to reduce the brain drain intention of emergency health workers, perceptions of wage satisfaction and life satisfaction should be improved.
