Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the reasons why the international postgraduate students who migrated to Turkey for specialization training chose our country and their views on life satisfaction in Turkey. A total of 10 healthcare professionals, 3 females and 7 males, participated in the study conducted at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University in the 2021-2022 academic year. Participants were foreign nationals and had postgraduate education in Turkey. The study was implemented in the phenomenology pattern, one of the qualitative research methods. The data obtained from the students through semi-structured interviews were analyzed by content analysis. As far the findings obtained from this study are concerned, it was revealed that the main factors that led the participants to prefer Turkey were the qualified education system of Turkey in the field of health, its geopolitical position and its perception as a safe country. Bu araştırmanın amacı, uzmanlaşma eğitimi amacıyla Türkiye’ye göç eden uluslararası lisansüstü öğrencilerin ülkemizi tercih etme nedenleri ve yaşam memnuniyetlerine ilişkin görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında Van Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi’nde yürütülen çalışmaya 3’ü kadın 7’si erkek olmak üzere toplam 10 sağlık çalışanı katılmıştır. Katılımcılar yabancı uyruklu olup Türkiye’de lisansüstü eğitim gören kişilerdir. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomenoloji deseninde yürütülmüştür. Öğrencilerden yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşmeler ile elde edilen veriler, içerik analizi ile çözümlenmiştir. Analizler sonucunda katılımcıların Türkiye’yi tercih etmelerine neden olan başlıca faktörlerin; Türkiye’nin sağlık alanında sahip olduğu nitelikli eğitim sisteminin, jeopolitik konumunun ve güvenli bir ülke olarak algılanmasının olduğu görülmüştür. Uluslararası lisansüstü öğrenciler, Türk toplumu ile benzer dile ve ortak dini değerlere sahip olduklarını, mesleklerinin saygınlık gördüğünü ve eğitim maliyetlerinin ucuz olduğunu ifade ederek Türkiye’de kendilerini mutlu hissettiklerini belirtmişlerdir.
