Abstract

Finance and real sector play an important role in the finance and economic development of countries. An advanced financial sector supplies financial resources swiftly and inexpensively, needed by the real sector, thus increasing the continuity and efficiency of production without interruption. However, not every product that is funded by the finance sector and produced by means of this fund can contribute to economic growth. As well as low-tech products make insignificant contribution to economic growth, high tech products, ie. sofisticated products make significant contribution to economic growth. Accordingly, in order for more efficient and productive economic growth to be ensured, it is important to transfer resources into the production of products. In this context, having an advanced financial system is important in order to transfer resources into the production of high- tech products, and to supply the resources needed for production. The manufacturers in the countries with advanced financial system can low costly supply the necessary funds for the production of high-tech products. In this case, an advanced financial system will play a supportive factor for more efficient and peroductive processes to be actualized, and accelerate economic growth. In this study, the relationship between financial developments in Turkey and the production of sophisticated products were analized by OLS, CCR and DOLS models using the data of period 1966-2016. As a result of the analysis, a positive relationship was found between financial development and sophisticated product production. This relationship determined proves that financial development positively supports the production of sophisticated products.
