Abstract

While the positive and negative effects of television on children are discussed, speaking skills are not involved in these aspectsas much as they should be. Rather than basing itself on the effects of the television on speaking, this study is based on thequestion “How can the television be used efficiently for better speaking skills?” in order to turn the negative effects of televisionon speaking skills into positive. The significance of this study stems from the fact that the model developed by the researcher provides a concrete solution tothe use of television for developing speaking skills.A literature review has been conducted for the research.A model has been developed in order to minimize the negative influence of television and to facilitate the speaking skills ofthe students who think that they have been influenced by television positively. Developed to support speech education withan authentic contribution by formulating the utilization of TV as a conscious process for better speaking and to inspire otherresearchers, this model poses a solution to the question “How can the television be used efficiently for better speaking skills?”
