Abstract

Ti6Al4V is the most widely used titanium alloy in today's biomaterial applications. It is preferred in biomedical applications due to its non-toxic/allergenic effect and good mechanical properties. This study was carried out with the aim of improving the corrosion resistanceof this alloy preffered due to its many positive properties. In this study, Ti6Al4V alloy was coated with SiO2 solution by using sol-gel method prepared by adding different drying control chemicals after surface preparation. Then, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses were performed. As a result of these analyses, it was observed that the used drying control chemicals prevented the cracks that may occur in the structure, shortened the gap distance between the formed crack structures and tended to preserve the integrity of the structure.
