Dilbilimsel ve felsefi bir perspektiften bakılarak metaforların yapılandırmacı yaklaşımla kuram oluşturma ve bilgi üretmede önemli olduğu varsayımına karşılık; yapılandırmacı olmayan yaklaşımla teori ve hipotezlerdeki metaforik kavramların bilgi üretimini engelleyici olduğu savunulmaktadır.
