Abstract
Objective: This study examines the attitudes of midwifery students towards gender and other factors associated with these attitude. Materials and Methods: The population of this descriptive study consisted of midwifery students studying at a state university. A total number of 165 volunteer students were included in the sample between November and December 2020. A sociodemographic questionnaire and the Gender Roles Attitude Scale were used as data collection tools. Results: The mean age of the students was 21.16±1.32 years, and the mean Gender Roles Attitude Scale score was 98.03±14.71. The analysis shows that the average of the female gender role subscale scores (p=0.008) and the average of the total scale scores (p=0.048) of the fourth-grade students were higher than other grades. It also indicates that the students who graduated from other high schools have a more egalitarian gender role compared to the graduates of the classical high school program. Conclusion: This study shows that the midwifery students generally have traditional attitudes in terms of gender roles. As the grade level increases, the egalitarian attitude towards gender roles also increases.

Amaç: Bu araştırma, ebelik bölümü öğrencilerinin toplumsal cinsiyete yönelik tutumlarının ve bu tutumları etkileyen faktörlerin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı tipteki araştırmanın evrenini bir devlet üniversitesinin ebelik bölümü öğrencileri oluşturmuş ve örneklem seçiminde Kasım-Aralık 2020 tarihinde gönüllü toplam 165 öğrenci çalışmaya dâhil edilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak öğrencilerin sosyo-demografik özelliklerini sorgulayan form ve Toplumsal Cinsiyet Rolleri Tutum Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 21,16±1,32 yıl olup, Toplumsal Cinsiyet Rolleri Tutum Ölçeği puan ortalaması 98,03±14,71’dir. Dördüncü sınıf öğrencilerinin kadın cinsiyet rolü alt ölçeği (p=0,008) ve ölçek toplam puan (p=0,048) ortalamalarının diğer sınıflara göre daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Diğer liselerden mezun öğrencilerin klasik lise programı mezunlarına göre daha eşitlikçi cinsiyet rolüne sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir. Sonuç: Ebelik öğrencilerinin cinsiyet rolleri açısından genel olarak geleneksel bir tutuma sahip oldukları belirlenmiştir. Sınıf düzeyi arttıkça toplumsal cinsiyet rollerine yönelik eşitlikçi tutum da artmaktadır.
