Abstract
Social support is the psychological source for individuals to deal with problems. In our knowledge, there is no measurement instrument to measure psychological dimension of community support for university students in Turkey despite the importance of the community support emphasized both in normal and clinical population in literature. For this reason, in the study, the validity and reliability of community subscale of Perceived Social Support Scale developed by Yıldırım (1997) in high school sample was examined in university student sample. For this purpose, data were collected from 300 university students who continue their education in various faculties in Ordu University. As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis, it has been observed that single factor structure of the scale had acceptable coefficients. The correlations between Perceived Community Support Subscale, Perceived Social Support from Family Subscale and Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale were examined to determine the criterion based validity of the scale and these values were found as significant. In addition, within the scope of the reliability studies of Perceived Community Support Subscale, Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficient and the equivalence coefficient was calculated and it was found as .93 and .93, respectively. Also, it is found that community support levels of university students do not vary by gender. These findings are discussed in the light of the related literature.

Sosyal destek bireylerin sorunlarla başa çıkmalarında psikolojik bir kaynaktır. Alanyazında toplum desteğinin gerek normal gerekse klinik popülasyonda vurgulanan önemine karşın Türkiye’de üniversite örnekleminde toplum desteğinin psikolojik boyutunu ölçebilecek bir ölçme aracına ulaşılamamıştır. Bu sebeple, bu çalışmada Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği’nin Toplum Desteği Alt Ölçeği Üniversite Formunun geçerlik ve güvenirlik çalışmalarının yapılması amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla Ordu Üniversitesi’nin çeşitli fakültelerinde öğrenim gören toplam 300 üniversite öğrencisinden veri toplanmıştır. Ölçeğin geçerlik çalışmaları kapsamında gerçekleştirilen doğrulayıcı faktör analizi ölçeğin tek boyutlu yapısının kabul edilebilir uyum indekslerine sahip olduğunu göstermiştir. Ölçüte dayalı geçerlik için yapılan analiz sonucunda Toplum Desteği Alt Ölçeği, Aileden Algılanan Sosyal Destek Alt Ölçeği ve Warwick-Edinburgh Mental İyi Oluş Ölçeği’yle arasında anlamlı düzeyde ilişkiler bulunmuştur. Bununla birlikte güvenirlik çalışması kapsamında hesaplanan Cronbach alfa (0.93) ve eşdeğerlik kat sayıları (0.93) ölçeğin güvenirliğine kanıt olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Buna ek olarak cinsiyete göre üniversite öğrencilerinin toplum desteği algıları arasında fark bulunamamıştır. Bulgular ilgili literatür ışığında tartışılmıştır.
