Abstract

This study evaluates the results of qualitative research on the pilot application of FATIH (Fırsatları Arttırma ve Teknolojiyi İyileştirme Hareketi- Movement of Increasing Opportunity and Amelioration of Technology) project of Ministry of National Education that aims at integrate information and technology to education in 2012. The study analyzes the data obtained by semi-structured and focus group research methods from 44 parents whose children attend the pilot schools in Ankara, Karaman, Mersin and Uşak. It mainly scrutinizes the results of pilot application in detail by focusing on the possibility and limit of FATIH Project from the view of the parents. The results of this research demonstrate that most parents cannot be still actively integrated into the process as one of the important share holders. Yet, majority of parents can propose opinion about individual, social and pedagogical * Yrd.Doç.Dr., Anadolu Üniversitesi, Edebiyat Fakültesi Sosyoloji Bölümü, [email protected]** Doç. In this respect, the parents have both affirmative and cautious about the technological integration to education by FATIH project.
