Abstract
This paper aims to determine the impact of R&D on economic growth by employing a Residual-Based Cointegration test with a Fourier Approximation with annual data from 1990 to 2017 in Turkey. The findings obtained from cointegration test indicate that RD and RGDP are cointegrated. On the other hand the results of error corection model show that there is a bidirectional causality between R&D and economic growth. The Findings are important in terms of revealing the role of R&D in economic growth.
Özet
Bu çalışma Türkiye’de AR-GE’nin ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkisini belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Türkiye’de AR-GE’nin ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkisi fourier yaklaşımla kalıntı temelli eşbütünleşme testi kullanarak 1990-2017 dönemi için tahmin edilmiştir. Eşbütünleşme testinden elde dilen bulgular AR-GE ve ekonomik büyümenin eşbütünleşik olduğunu göstermiştir. Diğer yandan hata düzeltme modeli sonuçları AR-GE ve ekonomik büyüme arasında çift yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisinin varlığını ortaya koymuştur. Bulgular ekonomik büyümede AR-GE’nin rolünü ortaya koyması bakımından önem arz etmektedir.
