Abstract

Lumbar disc disease is a common health problem in the community. Surgical treatment of lumbar disc disease is one of the most common surgical procedures in neurosurgery. Nowadays microsurgery is accepted as the gold standard method for surgical treatment of lumbar disc disease. On the other hand, daily developing endoscopic methods have become one of the promising surgical methods in recent years. The results of this technique, and the efficiency and safety have been discussed with many studies. On the other hand, long learning processes and disadvantages of endoscopic methods are also mentioned. The purposes of this article are to mention the development of endoscopic surgical techniques with the advantages, disadvantages and current status and to discuss the outcome of endoscopic lumbar surgery.
