Abstract

Transthoracic fine needle aspiration (TFNA is a method oftenly used to diagnoseperipheral lung lesions. The most frequentcomplication of TFNA is pneumothoraxas 5-64%. We aimed in our study todemonstrate the relation between chronicobstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) andpneumothorax due to TFNA. We evaluated 367 times TFNA of 281patients retrospectively and performedpulmonary function tests to appropriatepatients and searched COPD. We detectedpneumothorax as 13.1%. We didn t detecta significant relation between COPD andTFNA (p>0.05).
