lnterleukin-6 (IL-6) is a potent immunomodulatory cytokine that may have pathogenetic and prognostic significance in a number of disorders. In this study, we measured serum IL-6 levels in 20 patients with malignant lymphoma (10 patients with Hodgkin's disease, 10 patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma) and 12 healthy volunteers. No significant difference was found in the serum levels of IL-6 and C-Reaective Protein (CRP) between two groups. The other parameters (serum lactic dehydrogenase, fibrinogen, copper, a-2 globulin, erythrocyte sedimentation rate) were significantly higher in patients. Serum IL-6 levels were found to correlate to CRP.
