Abstract

In this study, 43 patients with zygomatic complex fracture on whom open reduction and miniplate rigid fixation was performed in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department at Gülhane Military Medical Faculty were evaluated. During follow-up period between June 1993-July 1995, osseous continuity and contour restoration were achieved; enophtalmus and diplopia disappeared; infraorbital hypoesthesia reduced; but complication was seen in 7 cases (% 16.2). The management of zygomatic complex fracture is quite difficult and heavily dependant on which technique is being used. Optimal improved results and decreased complication rate requires; a) early definitive treatment, b) precise evaluation of thecase peroperatively and, c) excellent performance of the surgical technique.
