Abstract

The schema mode approach is a holistic approach that has proven its effectiveness in the treatment of borderline personality disorder compared to other approaches by various studies. One of the most fundamental concepts in the development of schema therapy is modes. The modes reflect the dominant emotional and behavioral state of the person at a time. Studies conducted with clients with borderline personality disorder were effective in the concepts emergence of mood. Since clients with borderline personality disorder have most of the schema at the center of schema therapy, working with modal therapy gives more effective results. In this review study, the origins of borderline personality disorder, the formation of schema modes in borderline personality disorder, and addressing these modes in the treatment of clients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder are discussed within the framework of the relevant literature. When the studies in the literature are examined, some observe that schema therapy provides more effective results than conventional treatment approaches in the treatment of borderline personality disorder. This has been a significant development for borderline personality disorder, which is difficult to cure.
