Abstract

The aim of this research was to obtain the opinions of secondary school’s science teachers regarding face-to-face teaching in their classrooms instead of distance education with the new normalization during the pandemic. The research was carried out utilising a basic qualitative study design. The study’s participant group consisted of 56 science teachers (36 females and 20 males) selected using a purposive sampling method. The data were collected through a structured interview form created by the researchers and evaluated using the content analysis method. According to the results of the research, participants claimed that after distance teaching they used information technologies more in their classrooms. Science teachers repeated more subjects to course gains and included interactive whiteboards, EBA and Web 2.0 tools-oriented teaching in their classroom. Further, they tended to follow a more student -centred teaching method. Following distance education, they said that they felt more professional satisfaction and more productive in the classroom. However, they complained that the students had problems focusing on the lessons and that the pandemic measures were limiting in the classroom.
