Abstract

A foreign body in the frontal sinus is extremely rare andmost cases are related to maxillo-facial trauma. Sixtyeight year-old female patient was admitted to our clinicwith left nasal obstruction and left frontal pain. A poly-poid mass was detected at the left middle meatus by en-doscopic examination. Loss of frontal sinus aeration andsoft tissue density, especially at the anterior ethmoid re-gion, were observed in the computed tomography scans.Te history of the patient was unremarkable except for a neurosurgical operation due to a benign frontoparietaltumour in 1998. Fronto-ethmoidectomy was performedwith an endoscopic transnasal approach under generalanaesthesia. Te histopathological examination was re-ported as bone-wax . Te patient had no problem inthe 3 rd postoperative month. Tis rare case is presentedwith clinical and radiological fndings and a picture ofthe foreign body.

Özet

Frontal sinüste yabancı cisim oldukça nadir görülür vehastaların çoğu maksillo-fasial travma ile ilişkilidir. Alt-mış sekiz yaşında kadın hasta kliniğimize sol burun tı-kanıklığı ve sol frontal baş ağrısı şikayetleri ile başvurdu.Endoskopik muayenede sol orta meatusta polipoid kitlesaptandı. Bilgisayarlı tomografide sol frontal sinüste ha-valanma kaybı ve özellikle ön etmoid hücrelerde yu-muşak doku dansitesi gözlendi. Hastanın özgeçmişinde,1998 yılında beyin cerrahisi bölümünde sol frontoparietal başka bir özellik yoktu. Hastaya genel anestezi altındaendonazal girişim ile sol frontoetmoidektomi ameliyatıuygulandı. Histopatolojik inceleme bone-wax olarakrapor edildi. Üçüncü ayda yapılan kontrolünde herhangibir sorun ile karşılaşılmadı. Nadir görülen bu olgu, klinikve radyolojik bulgular eşliğinde, frontal sinüsten çıkarılanyabancı cismin görüntüleriyle sunulmuştur.
